SDS construction has provided much-needed jobs and business opportunities for Colorado companies. As one of the largest water infrastructure projects being built in the western U.S., it has contributed millions of dollars to the local economy.
With nearly all of construction complete, about $725 million has been spent to plan and build SDS since 2002. Nearly $598 million has benefited areas in Colorado.
Businesses ranging from local motels, trucking businesses, plumbers, and electricians to concrete suppliers, pipe manufacturers, fabricators and general contractors have all benefited from SDS construction.
The project’s goals was to hire as many local companies as possible to benefit southern Colorado businesses.
